Offshore Wind Technician Training

TOWSC's technicians are now both certified by GWO and wind turbine OEM.

Taiwan Offshore Windfarm Services Corporation (TOWSC) is building a team of Taiwan-based technicians to meet the needs of technicians in offshore wind industry. TOWSC sent it's technicians to Maritime Technology Innovation Centre to receive GWOs training; which include the following courses: Basic Safety Training, Basic Technical Training, Basic Technical Training-Installation and Slinger Signaler. TOWSC's technicians also joined the training provided by wind turbine's OEM, and received the certification.

GWO and wind turbine OEM training

GWO BST training shall enable participants to support and care for themselves and others working in the industry by possessing the knowledge and skills of first aid, working at heights, manual handling, fire awareness, sea survival and in case of an emergency, to be able to evacuate, rescue and provide appropriate first aid to casualties.

Working at height training                                                             First aid training

Basic Technical Training Standard consists of three modules which is Mechanical, Electrical and Hydraulics. Upon completion of the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Basic Technical Training (BTT), participants will possess an awareness of the hazards encountered when working on hydraulic, mechanical, electrical and installation systems, and how to control and mitigate these hazards, preparing candidates for working both on and offshore in the wind power industry.

GWO’s Slinger Signaller training module is to enable the participant to support and care for themselves and others while working with slinger signalling in the wind industry by possessing the required knowledge, skills, and ability to conduct assigned tasks safely and efficiently.

Basic Technical Training - Installation, enable the participants to work safely with basic installation tasks under supervision in a wind turbine environment.

Training courses by wind turbine OEM is a training that design to make sure the participants can follow up to the OEM standard of work. There is two part of the training which is online courses and practical courses. We need to finish all of the conline courses before taking on the practical courses, and after the completion of both we will receive the certification.
